Étienne DINET (1861-1929) - Sliman Ben IBRAHIM Mohammed RACIM The Life of Muhammad, Prophet of Allah. Piazza, 1918. Large in-4. Full dark green Jansenist morocco, with a smooth back, the dishes with large decorations of advanced orientalist compositions in gold and garnet, inspired by the great illuminations of Mohamed Racim of the work, fivefold net of gold frames, decorated back, linings and silk guards (used), covers and backs preserved. DURVAND. Original edition with a print run of 925 copies, this one "Printed for the President of the French Republic A. MILLERAND on the occasion of his trip to North Africa." Featuring an original watercolour gouache by Étienne Dinet signed and dedicated: "to Mr. Millerand , President of the Republic. Respectful homage and cordial memory of a former fellow student of Henri IV High School. E. Dinet. January 1922" Illustrated with 35 colour off-text compositions by Etienne Dinet framed with golden nets and protected by legendary snakes, as well as 12 polychrome and golden off-text illumination plates composed by Mohammed Racim. Note: It was in 1871 that Etienne Dinet entered Henri IV High School as an intern and then Alexandre Millerand became his classmate. Fifty years later, he would not forget this friendship.
