CONQUEST OF UPPER EGYPT. Double-sided, round bronze medal, depicting on one side a profile bust of the God Isis, head turned to the left, surrounded by the inscription: CONQUEST OF HIGH EGYPT AN VII, and on the reverse appears a crocodile chained to a palm tree, captioned below: DENON DIREXIT, signed Galle [André (1761-1844)]. This medal was struck under the Consulate to commemorate Desaix's victory in May 1799. French work from the late 18th century. Diameter: 3.5 cm. Age wear.
