MARIE-ANTOINETTE, Queen of France (1755-1793). Double-sided, round-shaped silver medal, depicting on one side a profile of the sovereign with her head turned to the left, surrounded by the inscription: MARIA ANTONIA FRANKREICHS UNGLUCKLICHSTE KOENINGINN, and on the reverse the mourning genie leaning against the urn on the pedestal, at the bottom of which the coat of arms of France is broken by a sword, surrounded by the inscription WEH. JEDE THRAENE WIRD EIN FLUCH DENENKELN Oct 16, 1793, signed Stierle [Johann Jacob Gottfried (1764-1806)]. German work, late 19th century. Diameter: 3.5 cm. Good condition.
