Glove of Lise DEHARME, offered to André BRETON (1896-1966) for the illustration of NADJA Sculpture in silver plated bronze L. 20,5 x D. 9,5 cm approximately Provenance : - Collection of the late Mrs Bernard CASTAING Note : The association Ateliers André BRETON-Paris has kindly informed us that there are four known examples of Nadja's glove: - The one that belonged to André BRETON, sold in 2003 at the Hôtel Drouot as part of the André BRETON collection (André BRETON, 42 rue Fontaine), and acquired by the BIBLIOTHEQUE LITTERAIRE JACQUES DOUCET - PARIS. - The one that belonged to Arturo SCHWARZ (1924-2021), famous art historian and gallery owner from Milan, specialist of Dadaism and Surrealism. His copy was published in Dada e surrealismo riscoperti in 2009 by Skira, then donated to the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Rome, with a large part of his collection. - The one that belonged to Alan GLASS (born in 1932), a famous artist who lived in the entourage of André BRETON after the war, which he unearthed in a flea market in Mexico City, and donated to the MUSEUM OF MODERN ART OF THE CITY OF PARIS. - The one that belonged to Madeleine CASTAING (1894-1992), a famous antique dealer and decorator who was, with her husband, a great art critic, a friend of the artists of Montparnasse, of Pablo PICASSO, of Erik SATIE, of Jean COCTEAU, of Blaise CENDRARS,..., then offered by Didier GRUMBACH, President of the French Federation of the Couture, of the Ready-to-Wear of the dressmakers and of the Fashion Creators, to Andrée PUTMAN.
