GUERET. FRERES - PARIS
A richly carved limewood case with animal and plant decorations: birds of prey, reptiles, birds and forest animals. Signed Guéret-Frères Paris. About 1860, before 1877 H. 34 cm, W. 42 cm, D. 31 cm Note : In 1853 Denis-Désiré Guéret (born on February 10, 1828) and his brother Onésime (born on March 10, 1830) created a carved furniture factory under the name Guéret Frères. In 1877, this one takes the name of Guéret Jeune et Cie, which allows us to confirm the creation of our set before this date. From 1855 onwards, they took part in all the exhibitions and won numerous medals. The quality of their work was frequently rewarded and increased their order book. Wealthy bourgeois but also illustrious personalities such as the Duke of Aumale, Napoleon III or Mr. Bryce, very demanding of this sumptuous furniture, will make orders to them. The latter ordered them to make all the furniture for his private mansion on the Avenue Gabriel in Paris.
