PIERRE III (1762) Alliance between Pierre III and the King of Prussia Frederick II, 1762. Gold medal. 51.21 g. 43 mm. A/ PETRVS III. - FREDERICVS II./ SAL. GEN. HVM./ A Confronted busts of Peter III of Russia and Frederick II of Prussia. R/ MINERV-AE PACIFERAE// MDCCLXII. Helmeted minerva sitting on the right, holding a scepter, resting on a shield with the arms of Russia, Prussia and Sweden. Engraver: A. Abramson. Diakov 113-1. Slight test mark on the scroll. Of great historical interest. Splendid. Provenance: Florange, June 12, 1946. This medal commemorates the end of hostilities between Peter III of Russia (1762) who has just succeeded Czarina Elizabeth and Frederick II of Prussia (1740-1786) at a time when the latter was in great difficulty.
