Virgilio et Aurelio MORTET (XXème siècle) The fountain of the four rivers Sculpture in silver and gold. It is based on a red Levanto marble bowl signed MORTET Roma. Signed Virgilio and Aurelio MORTET, located at 18 via dei Portugais Rome on the reverse side Pb: 4357.95 gr including 245 gr in 750°/°° gold and 4110 gr in silver. H. 50 cm (without the marble bowl) H. 73 cm (with the marble bowl) Note: Goldsmith, originally from Burgundy, Aurelio MORTET left France to settle in Florence as a sculptor at the end of the 19th century. He then opened a workshop in Rome, where he worked with two of his sons Armando and Dante. Following the Second World War, Aurelio MORTET's grandsons, Virgilio and Aurelio opened their workshop in Via dei Portugais in Rome. A century later, the descendants continue to support the family know-how. Among the notable creations of these goldsmiths are the sword of Victory of Vittorio Emanuele III or the Chest Cross of Pope Paul VI.
