Jacques SALOMON (1885-1985) - Lot 153
Jacques SALOMON (1885-1985) The painter Ker-Xavier ROUSSEL in his studio at L'Etang-La-Ville Glue paint on canvas (Accident) 179.5 x 257 cm Note: Around 1890, Ker-Xavier ROUSSEL roamed the suburbs from Suresnes to Saint-Cloud, as the Paris air did not suit his daughter Annette, whom he had had with Edouard VUILLARD's sister Marie. He eventually found a house in l'Etang-La-Ville. He settled there permanently in 1899. The house quickly became the home base for the NABIS: BONNARD, VUILLARD and MAILLOL joined him. Jacques SALOMON was a frequent visitor and artist himself, repeatedly painting Ker-Xavier ROUSSEL in his studio: "Portrait de Ker-Xavier Roussel dessinant" and "Le peintre Ker-Xavier Roussel dans son atelier" - catalog of the exhibition "Edouard Vuillard - Ker-Xavier Roussel" at the Orangerie des Tuileries, Paris, May 28-Sept. 16, 1968, pp. 60 and 267.
